State Laws
State Cap: No statute. There is no statutory limit on how much a landlord can increase the rent.

Proof of Service: A tenant must receive written notice. If by hand-delivery, the date of notice is the receipt date. If mailed, the date of receipt is 3 days after the mailing date. (§ 35-9A-144(c)(3))
Prohibited Acts: The landlord cannot increase the rent in a retaliatory manner because the tenant complained to a government agency, complained of a repair or utility, or tried to organize a tenant’s union or related group. (§ 35-9A-501(a))
